is pleased to announce the creation of several
new classes in addition to our current offerings .
INTENSIVE EVENING CLASSES
(FOR ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING students holding F-1
VISAS)
We have expanded our Intensive programs to include
an evening Intensive Program, which meets Monday through
Friday, from 6:00 to 9:40 p.m., for 4 weeks.
COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW
This class is designed to help students prepare for
upper levels, as the transition between Level 6 &
Level 7 can be very difficult. The course consists
of four basic objectives: improve reading skills,
increase vocabulary, introduce writing basics that
are expected in Level 7, and a comprehensive review
of grammar learned in previous levels.
GRE/GMAT VERBAL TEST PREPARATION
This course will prepare students for the verbal
section of the two exams. The focus will be on the
English language skills - vocabulary, word relationships,
inferences, and reading comprehension – directly
relevant to the types of questions on the verbal section
of the test: sentence completions, analogies, antonyms
and reading comprehension. Students will also learn
test-taking methods and strategies for improving their
scores. Classes will include computer lab sessions
to familiarize students with the test format and two
to three full-length practice exams.
NEW LEVEL 10
Advanced Grammar & Listening
This class helps students prepare for Levels 11-12,
where solid grammar and listening skills are needed
to participate fully. The basic goals of the course
are to improve grammar, which in turn helps students
write, read, and aurally comprehend complex sentence
structures. In addition, students will increase their
vocabulary and improve their ability to understand
authentic English.
AMERICAN BUSINESS CULTURE
This four-week, 80 hour advanced course is designed
to introduce students to American business culture.
The students will participate in lectures, interviews,
learn basic business writing skills, and will visit
2 or 3 major companies or organizations. Group projects
to experience teamwork and practice work skills will
also be a part of this program. Prerequisites: Completion
of three upper level inlingua® courses (Level
7 through TOEFL) and strong writing skills, or a minimum
TOEFL score of 213/550. An interview maybe required.
ACCENT REDUCTION SEMINAR
This 45-hour intensive seminar focuses on learning
the patterns, intonations and pronunciation of North
American English.
IELTS Training Course (4 weeks,
72 hours)
inlingua® offers an intensive
IELTS training course for 4 weeks to help candidates
prepare for the exam. This course will provide a rigorous
training in each of the four sections of the exam
– Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Students will have intensive practice in each, including
mock speaking exams, and both academic and general
training strategies in the writing and reading. In
addition, instructors will provide valuable strategies
for IELTS test takers. Each course will be held for
four weeks, every week day from 9:00-12:50. The fee
for the course is $780 + $55 one time non-refundable
registration fee, and you may register for the official
test at our center as well.
Students enrolling in the preparation course will
receive a free set of the Official IELTS Test Preparation
Package (the IELTS specimen pack).
inlingua®, Washington, DC is
currently the only official IELTS Test Center on the
east coast of the United States.
IELTS Workshop (3.5 hours)
In preparation of the IELTS Exam, some students may
need an introduction and/or refresher course for skills
tested on the exam. Exams at our center are on weekends,
and in order to help you prepare for the test, we
offer a 4 hour workshop the day before which will
provide the following:
- Introduction to the test and its parts
- A brief overview of the four sections
- Basic practice in each of the four sections
- An open forum for questions related to the exam
- Strategies for improving performance on the exam
The course will be taught by an instructor highly
trained in the IELTS forum.
The workshop will be conducted on the Friday before
the test or as often as needed with a minimum of 4
attendees, and will run from 2:00-5:30. The fee for the course is $100. |
